Tall Trees, Hazy Skies & Happy Memories
Hello friends! Today I’m super excited to share with you all about our latest collaboration. I've mentioned multiple times before (both in our newsletter and on IG) about how excited I was when Leen from Picot en Tricot designed her Happy Memories Shawl using Origin. I had no idea she was going to do this and it was such a lovely surprise to have our yarn featured in such a heartfelt design.
I love what Leen has to say about this design and her inspiration behind it: Knitting this shawl brought back some happy memories from my childhood, it features abstract wheat ears and a wide border of garter stitch representing a waving wheat field. My friend and I used to jump the rows of straw and play in the surrounding fields while the adults where hard at work pressing and collecting straw bales.
Over the summer my mom knit up a version of the pattern and I was just totally smitten. I asked my favourite photographer Finlay (who you'll recognize from any project I ever did with a professional photographer!) to snap a few photos while we were on a family camping trip in August and I'm so glad we took the time to do that. We camped among the trees beside Chilliwack Lake in BC and I'm happy to say I made my own memories of this shawl under tall trees & hazy skies. If you're curious, you can see more photos of our trip on Finlay's blog here.
When I got back to Germany in the Fall and started thinking about the collaborations I wanted to pursue in the following months, I knew I wanted to work with Leen. I also knew that there would be knitters out there who would want their own version of this delightfully cozy shawl. I'm so excited to share with you our Happy Memories Shawl Kits coming to the shop on Tuesday, October 16th. Each kit will include 3 skeins of Origin as well as the pattern PDF for you to download. I so hope you're going to love them!
